Communications technology has advanced and spread exponentially in the last decade, along with the capability to analyze enormous quantities of data.

However, in the humanitarian and human protection sectors there are serious gaps between existing information sources and how that data is curated and shared, resulting in some current and emerging crises being largely overlooked until it is too late for an effective response.

The humanitarian community needs access to the same big data analytics resources available to private industry, and people at risk of violence need free and easy access to dedicated, credible, and secure means of communication to warn their neighbors and alert the humanitarian community of impending danger.
